Promotion of Access to Information Act manual — how to request access to records held by St Francis College.

This manual outlines how to request access to records held by St Francis College. All requests are handled by our Information Officer in accordance with the Act.

1. Background

The Promotion of Access to Information Act No. 2 of 2000 (“the Act”) gives effect to the constitutional right of access to information held by the state and by private bodies, where that information is required for the exercise or protection of a right. In terms of Section 51 of the Act, all private bodies are required to compile an Information Manual.

7. How to request access to records

Step 1: Complete Form 2

Complete the prescribed Form 2 (available from the Information Regulator’s website) with sufficient detail to identify the record and yourself as the requester.

Step 2: Submit the form

A request fee of R50.00 is payable upfront (not applicable to personal requesters seeking their own information). The school will advise you of any additional access fees before processing.

Step 4: Await a decision

The school will respond within 30 days of receiving your complete request, either granting or refusing access with reasons.

All fees must be deposited into the school's bank account. Banking details will be provided upon receipt of your request. Fees are subject to change in line with the Act.
